Good colour satellite shot today. You can see the weather system that NOAA is carefully looking at near the Cape Verde Islands. This photo is from a second generation Meteosat, linked through Eumetsat operations in the UK. Made passage back to Guadeloupe just in time and, as expected, the “big weather” is here, (albeit some 12 hrs later than expected). Torrential rain and we are reading wind gusts of 50kts in the harbour in Pointe a Pitre (at 10.00 am today). I suspect this is quite localised as a storm, but it is a bad pattern as a result of the wave – this would be dangerous for any small yachts at sea around Marie Gallant and Les Saintes. Stay indoors, wrapped up and beware the quite violent thunder and lightening!

Looks like the first TD will arrive in 24 hours up north, so I am heading south and back to Guadeloupe today. Have been in Nelsons Dockyard in Antigua and “look at the crowds” in the picture!! Expecting wind in Guadeloupe on Monday as wave comes through. (30kts gradient wind?)
