At this time only a slight breeze is being felt with some higher

Good Afternoon, Looks like the inevitable is upon us here in Sint Maarten, Irma has us in her scope, all concern need to be prepared to the fullest. Just an update for those wondering, it has been decided to suspend all operations at SXM Airport from 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 5, by the airport Management., all flights in and out of Sint Maarten will be suspended at this time. For those that is seeking to leave need to take appropriate step and see with your respective airline(s) on changing your travel plans. Just a head up to the group. With the passing of Hurricane Irma in our area by late Tuesday and Wednesday, Jetbudget would like to inform all our partners that we will have no Flight Operations on Tuesday / Wednesday and Thursday Morning. Our Aircrafts will be flown out on Monday and Tuesday morning for safety reasons to Curacao . Invest 93 L could affect those of us in the Northern Caribbean next week.
This is an excerpt from Crown Weather:
"Invest 93-L Located Near The Cape Verde Islands Over The Easternmost Atlantic: Invest 93-L is a disturbance that I continue to keep a very close eye on and its future track could
bring significant impacts to the northern Lesser Antilles and northeastern Caribbean next Tuesday and next Wednesday and then to the US East Coast during the weekend of September 9th -10th.
Satellite imagery indicates that Invest 93-L continues to become better organized with banding features observed in the thunderstorms surrounding the disturbance and it definitely
has the look of a developing tropical cyclone. The environmental conditions around Invest 93-L are at least marginally favorable for development and these conditions become even more favorable the further west it moves. I think that, at the minimum, we will
see slow development and intensification from Invest 93-L the rest of this week through this weekend and we will probably see it become a tropical depression over the next couple of days and a tropical storm by this weekend. I'm not expecting rapid intensification
from Invest 93-L, but am looking more at slow development.
All of the model guidance, including the GFS, European, Canadian and UKMET models, are forecasting development and potentially significant development from Invest 93-L.
The European model guidance is now forecasting this system to become a tropical storm by this weekend in the central Atlantic and then to be a major hurricane when it impacts the
northern Lesser Antilles next Tuesday and Puerto Rico next Wednesday. By next Thursday, the European model guidance forecasts that this system will be a major hurricane in the southeastern Bahamas.
The European ensemble guidance members also strongly suggests that the northern Lesser Antilles, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico needs to stay extremely vigilant with the forecast
of Invest 93-L.
The GFS model guidance forecasts very slow development over the next several days with a track that keeps it well north of the Caribbean. The GFS model may be up to its old tricks
of curving storms into the open Atlantic too quickly and it's entirely possible that we see the GFS shift further south with its forecast track of Invest 93-L.
Here Are My Thoughts: Make no mistake, Invest 93-L is a disturbance that needs to be monitored extremely closely as there are signs in the data that suggests this could be a long
track significant tropical cyclone. The pattern that could eventually lead to a significant US East Coast threat includes a building ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific into the western United States. This in turn leads to a trough of low pressure
to dig down between 80 and 90 West Longitude causing the ridge of high pressure to strengthen and build westward.
All of this means that Invest 93-L will be blocked from turning out into the open Atlantic and instead be guided west and west-northwestward leading to this becoming a long track
tropical cyclone.
So, for those of you in the northern Lesser Antilles, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico – This system may impact you around Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. If the European model
is even close to being correct, then you would be looking at hurricane conditions across this entire area from Tuesday through Wednesday of next week. This is a disturbance that needs to be monitored extremely closely."

We need to keep an eye on this as we may possibly be affected by it next weekend.
Wait and watch!
"As of right now, I think there is a 40
to 50 percent chance that we will see a tropical depression form to the east of the Lesser Antilles between 30 and 40 West Longitude around Tuesday or Wednesday.
As for forecast track as we get into late this week and next weekend
– There are a couple of possibilities.
The first scenario is that this
system is guided right over the northern Lesser Antilles and Virgin Islands next weekend as a ridge of high pressure east of Bermuda erodes and a trough of low pressure strengthens over the eastern United States. This eventually leads to a track that takes
this system very close to the US East Coast in about 12 days from now.
The second scenario is that the
eastern US trough doesn't strengthen as much and this allows our disturbance to sneak by leading to a much more westward track into the central Lesser Antilles next weekend and across the eastern and central Caribbean during the week of July 10th.
At at the minimum the eastern and northeastern Caribbean may see some
squally weather next weekend with the possibility of tropical storm conditions.
Everyone Across The Lesser Antilles, Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico should
keep very close tabs on this tropical disturbance. There is the potential that this system could impact you next weekend as, at the minimum, a strong tropical disturbance and very possibly as a tropical storm."

St. Maarten has been under attack by Mother Nature since the middle of the night.
We had a heavy thunderstorm in the middle of the night. Then at dawn it started again. thunder and lightning non stop with heavy rain and wind .
A friend clocked a wind gust of 31 MPH. I heard reports of 4 inches of rain.
The lightning and thunder were continuous with barely seconds between.
Lightning surrounded the house.
It really did feel like we were under attack.
Roads are flooded. School is cancelled. Even ducks should not be on the road in this weather.
This is a warning that hurricane season is right around the corner!

I was asking for rain and I got it! Too much at one time though. It has been raining heavily for 2 hours. Our airport was briefly closed and airplanes were stacked up in holding patterns. A couple of flights were diverted to St Thomas and Puerto Rico. I think
Air France was diverted to Guadeloupe.
Some of our roads have been experiencing flooding as you can see in the picture.

Good Morning
Skies dawned bright and clear in St Maarten today. I wake up every morning hoping we will have some showers, but, except for the other day, it has been dry. And what we had the other day was not enough.
The hills still look brown and some of our plants in the garden are dying.
The tourists keep messaging that they hope it doesn't rain. I don't want to ruin anyone's vacation, but I hope it does rain. Morning and/or evening showers would be good for everyone.
In the meantime, in spite of no rain, our desert rose is doing very well. It seems to like hot, dry weather, like in a desert.
