We at the west end of the island escaped almost all of the wrath of Mathew. Not so for the poor souls at the east(Oriente) end. They're still digging out and re-establishing communications. Many horrifying stories emerging. It will be a while before the whole pitiful story is told.

I live in the central/western(occidental) part of Cuba on the north coast. Announcements and preparation are well in progress. 'Have to wait and see what happens with this one. But whatever - it won't be good. So far it seems it will pass well to the east of us. at least the worst of it.
