Finally after weeks, Barbados now having some decent steady falling rains. Hope it stays all day - hardly no wind so just coming straight down but steady.  Everything on the island, dry, brown and grounds are cracking.  Today's weather will be welcomed by all.

- Raining

Second night in a row my dogs have woken me up from sleep around 3am with heavy rain and thunder with lightening.  So ended up reading to pass the time, while they paced the floors. 2 recent rescue dogs could not care less and sleep through anything but the other three are real wusses!
Rain and thunder storms to continue all day.

Lots and lots of rain since yesterday.  Also periodic thunder and lightening - sometimes very very loud.  Looks like it will be here all day, and into the night.

Thunder and lightning right now. No rain at current location in St Michael but
reports of heavy showers in St Andrew. Unconfirmed reports of a waterspout
off the south coast just before 6pm.

Good afternoon,

the outer edges of TS Erika can be slightly felt since about an hour or some more. Incoming winds have changed from a usually Easterly direction to a South-West origin. No rain as yet but the skies are getting cloudier. However, the clouds are hanging very low (see image) and are moving very slowly to the North-East.

Good luck to everyone!

- Barbados Update

Relatively dry conditions remain fairly firmly embedded in Barbados.

The tropical waves are continuing to trek across the Atlantic as per the norm at this time of the year, but their impact have been quite minimal so far.

Hostile environmental and upper air conditions caused by Sahara dust and strong wind shear are making their presence felt, and has largely limited the convective development of the waves that have moved across our area so far.

Winds have dropped right down and only light rain for now.  Still very dark.  Looks like we are in for a rainy night according to the satellite.

I do believe that the Tropical Wave is here.  Here on the South Coast we have now had 23 mm in just over one hour and it is still lashing down everywhere.
I can't see out of my windows as there is a fog from it raining so hard. But I can certainly hear it against the windows with the winds.
I have just moved into a new house and this afternoon with strong winds swirling from the South East I have found some of my windows leak rain - good to know before any thing serious comes along in the next few months.

Will let you know when it eases.

First posting for the almost new season.
Finally this afternoon long awaited showers - not much - but hey we will take anything at this point.
Supposed according to the satellite more this evening. I hope so, Barbados really needs some rain like so many other islands.
