The unnamed storm has now left central & south Bahamas and is moving northward.
The eastern end of New Providence experienced much flooding. Areas such as Fox Hill, Sea Breeze , Winton and Elizabeth Estates received as much as 12-15 inches of water over a 6 hour period. Many residents remain at home due to flooded roads and homes. Numerous cars have stalled out along the Eastern Road, Prince Charles and other areas in the east.

Businesses on Bay St. experienced significant flooding.

Now that the rains are subsiding the clean up activities have begun.

The central Bahamas has been under severe weather alert for the past few hours and will continue to be so until at least 11pm. The weather reports indicate the possibility of water spouts and tornado activity. It has been raining heavily and continuously in New Providence since 3pm. There has already been flooding in Fox Hill, Pinewood Gardens amd along parts of the Eastern Roads.

Thunder and lighting have been frequent with sudden strong gusts occurring. There is an unconfirmed report of a lightning strike on Thompson Boulevard, with damage to at least one building. Residents have been advised to stay indoors. Folks, this is no time to be on the roads. Let's all heed the warnings.

Now is the time to take a look around our homes to see where the water is coming in, so that we can make repairs before hurrican season gets underway.
