So Maria's backend reached us early this morning bringing some thunder, lightning, rain and wind. Waking up this morning doesn't look like things got too bad. It's still overcast with rain and gusty winds at the moment with a few rumbles of thunder every now and then.

Well things are beginning to get a bit gusty here but no sign of any rain yet! Looks like Maria is now about 130 miles away...

Well not much to report as yet on island, there have been some showers this afternoon and a few gusts of wind but things seem generally calm at the moment. Water is being turned off from 10pm until the storm has passed so make sure you have enough water to last and there may be some interruptions in the electricity/phone line as always.

Will give an uupdate in the morning!

Good afternoon all,

When I checked the weather last night before going to bed, didn't look to bad, a little surprised this morning though!! We still have a little sun poking through the clouds, some blue sky, and an occasional small gust of wind. Starting to get a little more grey though. Stay safe everyone, we all know how fast things can change.

All the best,
Ken

11am update shows that Maria is now moving quickly westward and is due to track to the south of us and there is still a tropical storm watch in place for Montserrat. However, according to the National Hurricane Centre the air force reconnaissance plane will confirm later whether there is still a closed circluation present - the current thinking is that this is not so. The NHC say 'VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGES SHOW THAT THE CLOUD PATTERN HAS BECOME DISORGANIZED AND CONSISTS OF A TIGHT LOW-LEVEL SWIRL WITH SOME PATCHES OF DEEP CONVECTION TO THE NORTH OF THE CENTER'.

- What's to come?

Its been a lovely few weeks here on Montserrat since Irene passed us but looks like we might be in for some wetter conditions at the weekend! At the moment looks like Maria will pass just to the north of us.

The National Hurricane Centre in their 5am report state that an upper level low or trough is located to the north-west of Maria and is predicted to move in tandem with Maria. This trough has been inhibiting the strength of Maria and the NHC state that the official forecast is that there will be no strengthening of Maria in the next 72 hours. After this in response to the expected weakening of the trough Maria will increase in intensity.

More of an update as and when more information is available or when it starts to rain!!

To all our friends and family who live along the coast, and those we don't know, stay safe, heed the warnings, better safe than sorry. You don't want to make a wrong decision. Our thoughts and prayers, (at least mine) are with you...

Good morning All...I was surprised at the amounts of rain our neighboring islands received, Antugua, and St. Kitts, the two I saw on a weather report. I recorded two inches of rain. Nice sunny day today here, stay safe those who are in the path of Irene, you know the drill...

- No action here

Good morning All

It is a very gloomy & drizzly morning.  Nothing from Irene and I hope it stays that way. Seems all the action is just North of us. The center is suppose to come within 10 miles of us but we are getting no wind, barely any rains which is a very good thing! Our island is so wet from previous rains I do not thing it can handle any more water.
I am hoping that Irene's pass is just like it is right now .. non-eventful.

God Bless and be safe!

Tina

Weather is a bit different now than it has been the past two days! Rain has started falling again here on the Emerald Isle as the tropical wave passes over us. Lots of rain, thunder and gusty conditions, hope that it doesn't last too long! Will update again later but I'm settling down now with a cup of tea and a good book.

Good morning everyone. We started the day with blue skies, sunshine, a slight breeze, and 80 degrees. It has just sprinkled a little and some clouds are rolling in, and as we know, it won't stay this nice for long, but this to shall pass. For those living abroad and are not familiar with Montserrats co-ordinates, they are 16.45 N and 62.12 W. Stay safe...

Good Afternoon,

This is the first report from Montserrat in a while! After a glorious weekend of still hot sunny weather (maybe a little too hot at some points) we now appear to be under a blanket of cloud as a result of the tropical wave which is currently in the area. Bursts of heavy rain and thunder began around mid morning and now I can't even see the sea through the cloud from where I am! Looks like we might be stuck with this weather for the next day or so....
