So ten minutes after I posted that last entry, the weather drama stopped. Just like that. It's still very windy, but it's dry, at least in the Half Moon area. The sun and clouds are sharing the sky, and there are some squalls off in the distance. Typical day, really.

After looking at the radar and the forecast, I'm surprised at the very turbulent weather we've had all night and into this early morning. A trough system is going over, and the forecast was for isolated, sometimes heavy thunderstorms. All the weather sites are trying to tell me we have lightweight rain out there. Um, no. The radar shows small strings of rain going over, and in a rare event for us lately, the band's sort of targeting us - the vortex has left us. But I still wouldn't expect the level of storms we've had consistently throughout the night. Lots of lightning, lots of thunder, lots of wind, and lots of rain. It's chilly! I don't care if it's supposedly 77 degrees. It feels colder. One site show winds from the east at 39km/hr. I believe that.
Daylight is breaking. All I see are clouds and rain. Let's see what the day holds, shall we? I'm off to get more towels to put at the bottom of the door.

The rain stopped about 1 today. The ghauts were running strong and there were a few power outages, but most of the day was just windy and overcast.
The updated forecast extends the flood watch a little longer, and suggests maybe a few more showers here and there:
Wx: Mostly cloudy skies tonight with periods of scattered showers mixed with light rain overnight, becoming partly cloudy in general tomorrow with some brief early morning passing showers developing. A flash flood watch will remain in place until 8pm tonight, due to the possibility of more showers developing between now and tonight.
We did have a pretty sunset - this one included a partial rainbow.

I spoke too soon. A flash flood watch has been issued until 2pm today (Saturday). Skies are still expected to clear up this afternoon though.
Synopsis: Conditions across the Leewards will remain cloudy with scattered showers during the morning but gradually improving throughout the day as most of the cloudiness and showers accompanying the upper level low and trough continues to move northwest over the Atlantic. A flash Flood watch is in effect until 2PM today. Wx: Today: Cloudy becoming occasionally overcast with periods of scattered morning showers and rain. Tonight: Partly cloudy with isolated late night showers Winds: ESE at 12-16kts. Seas: Moderate to locally rough with waves 1.8-2.1m or6-7ft. A small craft advisory remains in effect..

- It's Raining, It's Pouring

We had quite a few showers come through during the day Friday, with enough gaps to allow for some dog walking. It started raining in earnest overnight though, and we woke up to thunder, lightning, and lot more rain. The dog is sitting here with her legs crossed. She may go out in the rain, but I'm pretty sure if I go with her, I'm skipping the umbrella/lighting rod.
The radar looks pretty messy.
There aren't any flood warnings in place (yet) though, and the forecast is just for a mixture of showers (some including thunder) and clouds, so maybe we'll get a few dry moments throughout the day. We may wake to the same thing tomorrow (Sunday), but it should clear up as the day goes on. Might be a good day to break out the Kindle.

Well, I don't know about the rainforest, but we didn't see any rain in Frigate Bay. Blissfully, the winds did kick in though. On the Caribbean side, it was almost chilly (almost) and the waves were pretty choppy (photo from Shipwreck on Friars Beach).
This morning, it's been misty-looking out there, but still no rain. There's a slight breeze, so a nice day.

Well, so far we haven't had squat for weather. Tuesday, it was silvery in the morning, cleared up, and then got cloudy as the sun set. This morning, we had a very calm (meaning no wind whatsoever) sunrise.
Synopsis: The interaction of a tropical wave with an upper level trough will continue to generate cloudiness and showers across the Leeward Islands and British Virgin Islands today and tonight. As a result a flash flood watch is in effect until 2 pm today Wednesday, as rainfall totals of 1-2 inches are possible. This watch may be upgraded to a flood warning later today. Wx: Skies today will be cloudy to overcast with scattered to numerous showers. Some of the showers could be moderate to heavy at times and accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. Tonight, a gradual improvement is expected and skies will be cloudy with a reduction in shower activity. Winds: SSE-SSW at 3-7 kts but becoming lighter and variable at times.
Seas: Moderate waves 1.5m/5ft.
Barometric Pressure: Near normal

Looks like we've got a tropical wave passing by today. We've had rain the last couple of nights, but forecasts are for thunderstorms this afternoon and shower activity through Thursday.
There are puffy, silver clouds out and about right now, so I guess I better get out there and get some exercise! Here's a rainbow from yesterday (Monday).
