Just a quick observation from Montserrat.  Look up at the moon and see the huge halo around it. Beautiful!!

Wide awake because of the storm... Between the thunder, lightening, the raging Belham Valley and my dogs crawling up my back, how is a girl suppose to sleep & at my age I need all the beauty rest I can get LOL!

It has been raining here non stop since Saturday around 2pm, enough is enough. We did get a small reprieve yesterday morning for a few hours then it started again with a vengeance. The ground is soooo saturated that 2 trees have been uprooted. I have not been able to cross the valley so I have no idea how the north of the island fared. Do not have a rain gauge but my pool is 6 inches  from the water line to the top and it has filled up twice and really close to a 3rd time. So taking in account that some is what has been pouring off the roof, I would guesstimate that we have had at least 7+ inches of rain since Saturday.
Looking at the radar it looks like this will continue until some time late morning (I hope). Like Dave, the towel brigade has been putting in some serious overtime.

Stay Safe & God Bless

Hi everybody.

We're experiencing the worst of the winds we have had so far.  Our power went out at 5:30 last night and still not on.  We're running the generator. We checked our rain gauge at 8 last night and it was full.  That means 7 inches of rain in 3 hours.  Just checked it again (7:17) and we had 3 and 1/2 inches.  Probably should be more as the rain is coming down sideways.  The Belham is roaring!!!!  From other reports on island we have flooding at Carr's Bay and the port.  Roads have debris and we have been advised not to go out.  Who would want to?? Also heard there is a washed out road in the Woodlands area that is making it hard for the power crew to find out the power problem in this area.

Other than that we are hanging in and the coffee is fresh.  What more could you ask for on a day like this?

Will keep you updated.  Everybody keep safe.

- Windy to say the least

Good Morning

Wow. that was some storm last night. Not to much rain in the south of Montserrat but we had the wind. My guess was 20 to 25 sustained winds with gust at 30 to 35 if not higher. This went on all night. I heard that the northern part of the island got a lot more rain then we did. It is still pretty windy this morning with overcast skies.
No damage that I can see, just picking up potted plants and getting a few pieces of furniture out of the pool.Nice thing about the wind last night it cleared all the dead branches out of the trees. Saved me the trouble of climbing into them and clearing them out, which I hate doing.

Have a great day!
