Sea water temperature is about 85 deg. (haven't actually measured) but on the body I'd say I'm close.

Hello,

The clouds have moved over Nevis from the wave north of us. Air is dead calm. Which makes for a stifling feeling. No rain in the clouds...yet.
Latest conditions attached.

Greetings to All,

Well the satellite images show the Leeward Islands to be clear but out the window I see clouds with a few passing showers.
Lately we've been getting showers every day. It helps to cool things down a bit after their passing but if the sun peeks out soon after the heat index climbs immediately. It's been rather humid with that dripping sweat feeling. Luckily no imminent storms about so will take the humidity & showers anytime.

Current conditions attached.

Cheers,

Harry

Greetings,

All is quiet on Nevis. Not much in way of rain fall. Days are warm 87-89 deg F.
Pool water seems to track 2-3 degrees below air temp, a nice thing when you need that cooling off feeling.
Sea temp's about 85 def F.

Latest weather data attached.

- Nevis Rain

Greetings,

Had a good downpour last evening which resulted in 1" of rain. That converts to 1000 gallons into the cistern.Everything topped up, all is green, ground this am will be easy to dig. Guess I'll be doing some gardening while things are easy to work.

- Thunder & Rain
  • From: "Harry Hallstrom" <hwh888 at gmail.com>

Greetings,

We are in the midst of a thunder storm & heavy rain. So far .35" of rain has fallen.
It sounds as if the storm is moving from West to East, judging by the movement of the thunder.
I haven't looked at the satellite images to confirm this. Whatever direction, no complaints from me. Glad to have the rain for gardens & cisterns.

Greetings,

Sorry about the long period of silence....was in USA.

Returned to rather cloudy but dry weather. Seemed like rain would fall but nothing.

Weather station data didn't gather each days rain fall, only last data capture to my return. Somewhere in the month there was a total rain fall of 2.25". I've been told most happened in middle of June. I can see gravel trails where the heavy run off created the trail. One indication of a lot of rain at once.

This am it looks to be some blue sky about although looking at the satellite images it doesn't look to last.
Attached the present conditions.

- Nevis Nice (but dry)
  • From: "Harry Hallstrom" <hwh888 at gmail.com>
  • Date: Sun, 18 May 2008 07:44:04 -0400
Good Morning All,

It's been a dry month to date. That green look has turned to a dusty, burnt dry look. I see the water trucks daily delivering water to those empty cisterns. Hey folks ya gotta learn to go into conservation mode at times like this. Nature does it automatically. Plants stop growing, weeds die off (a good thing). Guess we'll all look to the East for those waves to head our way & produce some needed rain. Probably shouldn't say that to loud, might get more then I bargain for.

I figured out how to get the graphs out of my weather station data so attached the rainfall graph for this month.

Greetings,

Well, well. Finally a break from that thick haze we've been stuck in for the last couple of weeks.
Thinks cleared this am and low and behold no one moved St, Kitts. Was getting worried with no SKB in sight for the last few days!!!

- Nevis Nice (Warm)
  • From: "Harry Hallstrom" <hwh888 at gmail.com>

Hello All,

Up early and enjoying the cool morning & the quietness of early am (even before the roosters).

Not much for breezes. Temps have been warm especially after those months of cool "winter" breezes.
Seems we went from cool to hot over night. Not a lot of rain this month to date. I see goat farmers harvesting grasses for them & loading into their car, truck, horse.

Living on the West side of the island and up near Nevis Peak we get blesses with more showers then most folks. As is typical on most of the Caribbean Islands. Dry on the East end and "not as dry" on the West end.

Attached latest conditions.

Greetings,

Looks like a bit of a reprieve from the very warm days of late and the cloudy days we've been having.
We're in between two cloud bands but little rain has fallen from them. Not drought conditions but edging closer!

- Warm Nevis
  • From: "Harry Hallstrom" <hwh888 at gmail.com>
  • Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2008 06:35:04 -0400
Greetings,

Since last posting things have changed a bit. Winds shifted to a southerly direction which raised temperatures 5-6 degrees & you can feel the difference. With the shift it has become very calm with little rain to add to the "warm" feeling. Satellite images show we should be in for some rain today & tomorrow. Visual forecast says cloudy but doesn't look threatening rain.

Cheers,

Harry
